Portals
Portals are gateways between rooms, but with much grander appearance and with more useful possibilities than ordinary doors.
We have a various selection of different portal systems to choose from. They differ from each other for example by frame construction (aluminum or wooden), by finishing (glazed or covered with panels), by sound proofing, etc.
Sound barrier portals have been tested in the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland (Valtion Teknillinen Tutkimuskeskus) or in AcouTechLab (Laboratory of Acoustics in Tallinn University of Technology).
Portal side sections are ideal for connectors, switches, cabling, etc., making a portal an ideal option if there is a need for electrical locking, room booking solutions or just a place to mount switches and sockets. PORTA-92M and 120M have the option to choose side section panels with hidden clip profiles so that it’s easy to remove the panel during e.g. electrical work and attach it after the works are finished.
All Structo portals are designed to be molding free, some have built-in installation reserves and others are cut to right dimensions on site.
Fittings
Correctly chosen handles, locks, hinges and other small details give the final finishing touch to a door. High quality Abloy hinges are used for the doors, with zinc as the default finish. Traditional doors usually have 3 hinges, while 4 hinges are used for heavier doors. Concealed hinges can be used – these are special hinges concealed in the door sheet and the frame and not visible when the door is in closed position. Other non-standard hinge solutions can be provided on special request if technically possible. Doors can also be ordered without locking if there is no need to lock them. There are standard lock cases and handles for each door type, but if it’s technically possible, we will use fittings according to the wishes of the client.
Finishing
Wooden doors, wooden frames and MDF panels can be covered with natural or technical veneer, paint (RAL, Monicolor, Tikkurila colour cards) or laminate.
We are using quarter sliced veneer (radial cut) or flat cut otherwise said plain sliced veneer (tangential cut). Those veneer strips are then joined together to make spliced veneer faces (wide veneer sheets). Our standard method is book match. It’s possible to choose from over 40 different veneer species from Europe, Africa and America.
By default, Structo wooden door panels and door panel vertical edges are covered with the same finishing material except for laminated door panels. If the door panel is laminated, then the door panel vertical edges are painted.
Possible types of glass are tempered, laminated or tempered-laminated. If there are openings or other cutouts in a glass panel, then the glass panel has to be tempered. The surface of the glass can be bright, very bright, mass-tinted, background-painted or matte.
The standard surface finish of aluminum profiles is natural (silver) anodizing but it is also possible to order a painted surface according to the RAL colour catalogue.
